Protein glycosylation is an important post-translational modification (PTM) that defines intracellular interactions, and glycans are known to mediate important biological processes. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) imaging is enabling researchers to monitor specific biological changes occurring between different disease states, such as cancer, and drive the discovery of new clinical biomarkers.
