Adherent or Suspension? How to Select the Right Production Method for Your Cell Culture Process

New gene therapies frequently start their development journey being produced in adherent cell lines, usually for good reasons. All you really need at this stage is an incubator, and as the amounts required for early-stage development are very small, cell maintenance and production are relatively straightforward. It’s no wonder that many academic and research facilities prefer adherent cells. However, once feasibility is established and you decide to move into the next phase of the development process to produce larger quantities for analysis or pre-clinical material, it’s worth considering whether to keep your process in adherent cells or look at moving to a suspension platform.
